A 911 call placed around 12:10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19 reported a man down in front of 400 Main St. Responding officers the 18-year-old City of Poughkeepsie resident, who formerly lived in Queens. with a significant injury to his head.
He was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital where the wound was confirmed to be a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
His identity will be released pending notification of next of kin.
The suspect, 25-year-old Rajeam Ishmel Jackson of the City of Poughkeepsie, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, a Class A1 felony, at 11:30 a.m., said Poughkeepsie PD Lt. Matt Clark.
There were no witnesses in the area when officers arrived. However, there were people in the area when the incident occurred.
It was the fifth shooting in the city since Halloween night.
